Burkina Faso News Today — L’Observateur Paalga – Burkina Daily News. It is the most popular newspaper in Burkina Faso. It was established in 1973 by Edward Ouédraogo, but burned in 1984 by the regime of Thomas Sankara, as part of Burkina Faso’s media oversight, leaving only a government document. It was rebuilt in 1991 as L’Observateur Paalga (paalga stands for “new” at Mooré).

It was set up in 1984 after the closure of the Independent Observer by the government of Thomas Sankara. Among the printed media of Burkina Faso, its circulation is the second after the reopening of L’Observateur Paalga, and Sidwaya is still associated with the government’s view. A former state newspaper, it is now considered a reference newspaper by the Burkinabè population. The Sidwaya newspaper is distributed mainly in Ouagadougou, the capital, but also in the main towns of the different regions of Burkina Faso.
